For over 130 years the YMCA of the East Bay has served the community as a resource for healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility. This particular YMCA has nine branch locations which include: two residential camps offering an array of services (i.e. Youth & Government, healthy living activities, etc.) 46 childcare centers and an award-winning outdoor environmental education center.

Computers for a Cause donated two computers in order to help better serve their childcare centers which continue to lack the necessary technological tools to operate efficiently.

CommUniverCity Receives A Computer Donation From Computers For A Cause

CommUniverCity builds community by engaging residents and students in service learning projects that accomplish neighborhood-driven goals. Projects are based on priorities set by neighborhood residents and are accomplished through collaboration with central San José communities, San José State University, and the City of San José. Its mission to create and support community action projects help provide rich educational opportunities for residents of all ages; instilling a desire for life-long learning, while strengthening the community’s capacity to bring about vibrant, healthy, and engaged neighborhoods.

Computers for a Cause was happy to donate two desktops to help ensure that the neighborhoods of San Jose continue to thrive with the help of the programs created by CommUniverCity.

James Town Community Center Computer Donation From Computers For A Cause

For more than 40 years, the Jamestown Community Center has been providing learning opportunities and safe space for low-income youth in San Francisco’s Mission District. Its mission is to mobilize the resources of families, neighborhood residents, and other community members to help young people realize their full potential as empowered and productive members of society. Today, Jamestown serves more than 700 youth and families through a full range of early education, educational enrichment, academic support, leadership, employment, sports, and counseling and prevention programs.

Computers for a Cause’s generous donation will increase Jamestown’s productivity and capacity by providing staff with access to additional computer terminals. This will undoubtedly increase Jamestown’s efficiency and efficacy in serving its hundreds of youth and families.

Magellan Storage does more than provide empty space. They give attention to a host of specific details critical to its success such as planning, construction, staffing, zoning, financing and security.

Magellan Storage is also a proud, active supporter in their local communities. They demonstrated this support by donating free storage space to Computers for a Cause. Cars.com in Santa Monica has donated 12 much-needed monitors to Computers for a Cause. They have pledged to handle their e-waste progressively by concentrating on reuse first. Cars.com becoming a pledge partner with Computers for a Cause is a positive step towards shrinking the digital divide.

Andrea is a student and an avid volunteer in the Los Angeles community she lives in. To help her and her three younger siblings finish their schooling, Andrea requested a complete computer system in her home, a request we have happily fulfilled. Everyone at Computers for a Cause is very thankful for the hard work Andrea puts into the Los Angeles community, and we are thrilled to provide the tools she needs to become a better student and volunteer to the organizations she helps out.

About The Reach Me Foundation

The ‘Reach Me’ Foundation is a non-profit organization, that is a faith-based educational and community support organization. Its aim is to enhance the educational and equitability level of youth and young adults by teaching fundamental ethics, values and successful life skills, and aid them by providing mentoring, academic tutoring, scholarships, leadership skills training, AODA prevention education, food and clothing assistance.

Computers for a Cause has donated a complete computer system to Melinda. Melinda is a hard working mother who is going to be using the computer system to help further the education of her and her children. Melinda aspires to use her education to help young people stay out of trouble and teach them how to work hard for what they want in life. Computers for a Cause is happy to help support Melinda and her family in achieving their goals through the use of technology. Good luck Melinda!
